For over twenty years I have been in the room where culture gets built, inside some of the largest organizations in the world. Growing up, I was the one who kept my family connected, so they called me Cord.
In every one of those rooms I saw the same thing. People do not leave companies, or teams, or communities. They leave the feeling of not being seen. Their ideas go unheard, nobody notices when they stop coming, and they start to feel like a number instead of a person.
While building Cord I have sat with over a dozen leaders, and every one of them described what I had watched for twenty years: good people drifting away before anyone noticed. So I built the thing I always wished those rooms had: hospitality, the care a great host gives every guest, turned into infrastructure.
